Song: Buzzard Album: Never Bet the Devil Your Head Music by: Subrosa Tabbed by: db Okay. I redid "Buzzard" because the last time i did it the spacing got screwed up and i found some errors. Sonically, it's all there, but there is an easier way to play it. :) Standard Tuning. (ha!) Well, like the rest of the album, the song is one-half step down. The intro is played with harmonics, running sixteenth notes, but be careful. The ninth fret harmonics are intended to sound a perfect third above the open string (these can also be played at the fourth fret, but i found the sound more resonant at the ninth.). Being off the fret the slightest quarter of an inch will give you a different pitch (listen to Alice In Chains " Again" at the breakdown (doot-doot) part, both of those two different harmonics are near the third fret.). Well, here goes. Riff A E-|-----------------------------| B-|-----------------------------| G-|-----------------------------| D-|-------------------------7---| A-|---------4--------7----------| E-|---4------------------7------| NaturalHarmonics throughout For the next riff, octaves are used, still using slow tremolo picking (running 16ths) for 2 beats per note. Riff B E-|---------------------------------------------| B-|---------------------------------------------| G-|---------------------------------------------| D-|-----6---11----2----9----7----6---11----2----| A-|-----x----x----x----x----x----x----x----x----| E-|-----4----9----0----7----5----4----9----0----| listen to song for rhythm. endRiffB E-|--------------------------------------------------| B-|--------------------------------------------------| G-|--------------------------------------------------| D-|--13/14--14--14--14\13--13--13--13/14--14--14\13--| A-|---x--x---x---x---x--x---x---x---x--x---x---x--x--| E-|--11/12--12--12--12\11--11--11--11/12--12--12\11--| For the heavy distorton, it sounds like Tooke uses an overdrive pedal over a naturally dirty tone in the main channel. For the verses, Tooke switches off the overdrive and plays straight through the amp, which is already set to have a slightly dirty sound. These are the chords to the verse below. Riff C ___G#m6____E____ E-|-(0)---------| B-|-(4)----0----| It really sounds like the E is on top of that G-|--4-----1----| G#6 chord, but I can't be sure how travis fingers D-|--6-----2----| it...it's implied nevertheless. For simplicity, it A-|--6-----2----| could simply be picked as the notes not in E-|--4-----0----| parenthesis. Then riff A, Riff C, riff B with Fill 1 below : Listen to song for placement.
